Paris Fashion Week is coming: here’s what you need to know

After the end of Milan Fashion Week, all eyes turn to Paris in anticipation of one of the most anticipated events of the year, Paris Fashion Week. The French capital will present the women’s collections for the autumn-winter 2023-2024 season.

Paris will bring the final touch to this fashion month, in which we have been able to observe the work of great designers in cities such as New York, London and Milan. From February 27 to March 7the focus will be on the capital, which for ten days will host this promising Fashion Week.

There are 106 houses that will have the privilege of being part of this great event, organized by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), in collaboration with Defi, L’Oréal Paris and DS Automobiles, which has already published the official calendar of the 67 parades and 39 presentations.

Regarding location, the firms fluctuate between Parisian institutions and spontaneous locations. However, some brands such as Chanel, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton already have their identity stamp. The Grand Palais and the courtyard of the Louvre They make up the traditional locations of these houses.

However, most events are planned In the city centerin places like the eighth arrondissement, where the largest Parisian palaces are located, the Marais district or the Trocadéro.

The agenda for this Fashion Week is packed and will host classic houses such as Chanel, Dior, Paco Rabanne, Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent. There will also be a parade in tribute to designer Vivienne Westwood.

New signatures will present their designs on this occasion, as is the case of Palm Angelsthe Italian brand of streetwear luxury, owned by Farfetch, which brings an “Italian vision of American culture and subcultures.”

The house began as a photography project about the skateboard culture in Los Angeles, until it became a clothing brand in 2015. It has already participated in Milan Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.

dundas She is also a new protagonist, making her debut at this Paris Fashion Week. The British brand, founded by Norwegian Peter Dundas in 2017, offers very daring garments, which are often worn by celebrities on the red carpet. One of the most notable examples was Beyoncé at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

The most anticipated events

Schiaparelli will make a special appearance in this gala. The Italian brand, which normally exploits all its designs at the Paris Haute Couture gala, as it did this year with Kylie Jenner’s famous lion dress, has decided to parade its collection ready-to-wear in this Fashion Week.

Pierre Cardin has traveled around the world in recent years (Great Wall of China, Moscow, Palais Bulles de Provence and Venice) to end up walking in the city of light.

Its founder, Rodrigo Basicalti-Cardin, explained in an interview with FranceInfo that the number of pieces will be around 50 and 60 and that their location will be boutique from 59 Faubourg Honoré.

Another of the expected shows is that of Arthur Avellano, who normally limits his designs to men’s fashion week, but who will appear to close the Fashion Week.

Avellano will leave everyone speechless, once again, with his hybrid latex parts. The designer has developed this material, similar to leather, in collaboration with specialized laboratories and which is already part of his own label.

Furthermore, in the calendar we also find innovative firms that have emerged during the pandemic such as Maitrepierre, Pressiat, Minuit or Weinsanto and who will make their appearance in this long-awaited week.

Among the most anticipated events is that of the Belgian firm Ann Demeulemeester, which debuts Ludovic de Saint Sernin as artistic director, after his appointment in December 2022.

Coperni is another of the brands that are generating the greatest expectation. After the dress sprayed on the model Bella Hadid, the fashion world will be very attentive to how the founding couple Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer will manage to surprise her on this occasion.

One of the great unknowns of this Fashion Week is the Balenciaga brand. After the scandal starring children and sexual objects and other provocations such as Kanye West’s opening act, the brand faces an environment in which there will be some apprehension.
