In every home the medicine cabinet continues to occupy a prominent place. We turn to it for any incident or ailment in the family: from analgesics to relieve headaches, to medications against heartburn, drugs to control tension or the popular apyretal to reduce children’s fever. But do you know which ones are exactly the best sellers in Spain? The most popular medications and what are they used for? The Business Federation of Spanish Pharmacists (FEFE) has the answer to this question in the form of a list with the ten that sold the most in 2020, the last year for which reports are available.

According to the FEFE medication observatory, among the first medications in units and values are precisely three analgesics from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: Nolotil (holding first place since 2019), Paracetamol Kern, Enantyum and Paracetamol Cinfa. In second position in units is Adiro 100, aspirin used to prevent the formation of blood clots and reduce the risk of blockage of your arteries. Eutirox, a synthetic thyroid hormone for the treatment of diseases and dysfunctions of the thyroid gland, also appears in the ‘top ten’; Ventolín, an anti-asthmatic; an oral anticoagulant (Sintom), as well as two benzodiazepines (Orfidal and Lexatin).
