‘Zara x Steven Meisel New York’: the brand’s new collection that exudes seduction and extravagance
Inditex’s flagship joins forces with Steven Meisel (New York, 1954) for your new collection Zara x Steven Meisel New York. The solid relationship between the iconic New York photographer and Zara is consolidated, once again, with the presentation of this capsule of garments and accessories inspired by the unique style and personality of its creator, a fashion legend who has transcended all the limits of the sector with his photographs.
This is not the first time that Steven Meisel has worked with the Galician group headed by Marta Ortega, since His lens has been in charge of portraying many of the brand’s collections in recent years. One of the most notable milestones of this link dates back to October 2022, with the launch of A Moment In Timewhere men and women were photographed together starring in a campaign for the first time in Zara’s history.
Added to this, in the month of November of that same year, was the opening of the exhibition Steven Meisel 1993 A Year in Photographs, which took place at the Battery Dock in A Coruña, promoted by the Marta Ortega Pérez Foundation (MOP). The sample brought together more than 100 portraits made by Meisel during 1993which is considered its most prolific year, to women from the world of cinema and fashion such as Linda Evangelista, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Barbra Streisand and Twiggy.
A prodigious lens
Steven Meisel graduated from the New Parsons School of Design in New York. During At the beginning he worked as an illustrator at the fashion house Halston. Thanks to his curiosity to explore other worlds and his good photographic eye, he began to capture young emerging models with his camera, which led him to join posts Women’s Wear Daily either Seventeen. His work caught the attention of editors Franca Sozzani (Vogue Italy) and Anna Wintour (Vogue United States), at which time he would establish himself as a photographer within the fashion industry.
